Change after brain injury | Description |
Executive dysfunction | Difficulty with planning, organising and problem-solving the way you approach a task |
Impulsivity | Saying or acting before thinking about the consequences |
Memory impairment | Difficulty remembering events or information |
Perseveration | Getting stuck on an idea |
Reduced initiation | Difficulty getting started on an activity |
Reduced insight | Difficulty with having an accurate sense of how well you are doing a task |
Rigidity | Difficulty with changing the way you are approaching a situation |
Not every person with a brain injury will show all of these changes. Being aware that these issues are common after a brain injury can help you understand the person with a brain injury.
