A new service with easier access
We are designing and testing the Social Brain Clinic.
This is a new service to build communication skills after traumatic brain injury (TBI).
The Social Brain Clinic will:
- Use the Social Brain Toolkit online programs
- Involve student speech pathologists to run the programs
- Include peer mentors with lived experience of TBI
- Run online to reach people with TBI across Australia
The Social Brain Clinic is a community of people learning together.
People with TBI work on individual goals to build their communication skills. They may work alongside their family, friends, or carers.
Student speech pathologists run communication programs to help people with TBI. A supervising speech pathologist supports them.
Peer mentors who have a TBI support the clinic programs. They share their lived experience with both other people with TBI and the students.
Who can be part of the Social Brain Clinic?
Have you had a traumatic brain injury or head injury?
After a brain injury, communication can change.
Finding support isn’t always easy.
Researchers at the University of Sydney are developing a new online way for people with TBI to build their communication skills.
We’re currently looking for participants for a research study testing the Social Brain Clinic.
✔️ Open to people with TBI anywhere in Australia
✔️ Online appointments over 12 weeks
✔️ Communication support provided by student speech pathologists under supervision
✔️ Opportunity to share feedback
