6.10: To finish this module, what are your ideas for supporting Kristen’s communication?

Now that you have finished this lesson, think about your ideas on how you would support Kristen’s communication. Here is the question from the start of this lesson again:

Imagine that your sister Kristen had a brain injury five years ago. She now lives with your parents and uses a wheelchair. In terms of her communication, she:

• Cannot speak
• Listens during conversations and understands most of what is said
• Can give a thumbs up or thumbs down to indicate yes or no
• Uses an iPad app to support her to communicate key words and phrases
• Has a keen interest in following reality TV shows and the AFL

You are going to visit your parents and sister and a friend is coming with you who has not met Kristen before.
